Get On Your Feet However You Can

Spring is coming to Pennsylvania. I’ve been feeling it for the last two weeks. The days are getting longer, some of the birds are returning to the bare trees in the yard. The sun is riding a little higher in the sky and the stores are selling Easter Plants.

Of course, I couldn’t resist getting a few even though they will be done blooming long before the snowpack is melted away, but that is okay because I’m enjoying the fresh smell of hyacinth in my house. They look so pretty on the windowsill I will plant them in the garden and have them forever.

Speaking of planting my bulbs in the garden, I think it will take a little doing this year. Being old when Springtime comes can be so frustrating and sometimes downright sad. My knees don’t want to bend or have the strength to pick me up from the wonderful springtime soil. My hips scream to me not to get down there but what is an elder to do? Sometimes when you play you have to pay. My friend gave me a garden tool kit and I almost cried because I knew how much it was going to hurt when I try to use them. But use them I will, I always say “Us old people get things done, it’s just funny looking how we do them”.

My wonderful soul mate, my hubby left me almost 2 years ago now. I inherited all of the things on his “TO DO” list, and as some of us know the list can be rather short, and at this year’s springtime I am kinda thankful that it is.

Well, to all of the “old people” who are looking forward to Spring, but know it’s going to take some planning go ahead and get down in the dirt, don’t worry about how funny you look when you go to get back up on your feet. Good Luck to you and God Bless.
